David
'Big Pipes'
G

Vocals / Guitar
Dave started his musical career at the tender age of 6 years old. His father Robert, would have him drag his 120 bass accordion down to the local Pub in his wagon, open the case up and would play and sing for tips. This is where he found out about booking agents as his Dad would reach in the case and grab beer money (his commission).
Taking music lessons form his Uncle, Ray Amicangelo( one of the top keyboard
teaches/players in the country instilled his love for music. Dave's vocal lessons came later
by being lucky enough to have Mr. Henry Lech as a vocal teacher early in his career.
Henry has since moved to Butler University and the head of the Indiana Children's Choir
and respected as one of the top children's voice instructors in the world.

Vocals have been Dave's love for his 44 years in the music business. Singing with his
Uncles, Ray and Paul Amicangelo ( both have played with the Dorsey Brothers and many
more from the swing era) from the age of 6 years old, Dave learned the Jazz/Blues that
goes through his veins even now so many years later.
Now, Dave has a chance to play guitar also. Keeping the rhythm and bass line going while
singing is the hardest he's had for many years. Dave hung up his Gibson Les Paul in 1982 while retiring from the music world to help raise his two children.
His involvement with Boilerhouse Blues Band in 1995 got him back with the vocals but the guitar remained where he had left it until 2001 when he started a unique solo act. In 2002, Boilerhouse dissolved and Blackhound Moon was born with Steven Taunton at the guitar After almost 3 years of Blackhound Moon, Dave and Steven decided to do something with the down time created by Blackhound's drummer, Jamie Taunton returning to Detroit for a
while and the Blues being over- run by DJ's and Karaoke taking away opportunities for
live music.
Because of a strange set of circumstances, Dave had a chance to play about 6 songs with Steve. One week later, they were doing gigs and recording in the studio. Both loving the
older style of the blues, Dave decided it was time to dust off the old Gibby and stretch
some cables and make some music. He believes the fact that you can only serve one
Master and Vocals are his... The lead guitar work is left up to Steve's more than capable
hands and Dave works the rhythm and bass line concentrating on the strong vocals he's
known for.

For Equipment, Dave runs a 1977 Gibson Les Paul Special double-cut-a-way guitar that
he purchased new. He runs this guitar though a 2000 Fender Prinston Chorus Amp. For
strings, he uses Pyramid Gold Nickel Flat Wound strings although his head has been
turned by the Curtis Mangan strings and will be using these exclusively. The set size is
.056 to .013. These cables are required to keep a solid bottom end for Steve to do his
magic and for them to work off each other for a unique fresh sound.
